Professor Phil Cardew, Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic) at Leeds Beckett University will join BAC’s Council of Trustees as its Chair. An experienced educationalist, Professor Cardew has served in senior positions within a number of institutions over the past twenty years in the strategic leadership of teaching and learning, quality assurance and regulation, and partnerships with students. Further information on Professor Cardew is available here.

As Chair of the Council, he will work alongside a small but highly experienced and passionate group of Council members and will work closely with the Chief Executive and her dedicated staff team to deliver the new BAC five-year strategy: investing in growth; continuing to grow and diversify; actively engaging in its ethical responsibilities; further developing its integrated use of data and information; and to continue to promote and be active in the quality assurance community.

Professor Cardew will commence his 3-year term as Chair from September 2022, taking over from Dominic Scott OBE whose leadership and support was invaluable during the challenging environment of the last two years.

BAC looks forward to working with Professor Cardew and is grateful for the support and knowledge that he, and other members of the Council of Trustees, provide to BAC to ensure that we are able to meet our charitable objectives in raising educational standards both in the UK and overseas through the process of accreditation.
