Dear colleagues,

Welcome to BAC’s new website. We will be sharing media articles, upcoming events and updates in our newsroom, which will be updated on a regular basis.  Information on upcoming events and reports of those previously held can be found in our events section, where we will be posting details of both our own seminars and external ones of interest to the sector. We have already discounted registration for our accredited colleges to Inside Government and Neil Stewart events, and will be working to secure further discounts and special offers.

You’ll note that we have expanded the login area for accredited institutions. Within this, you will be able to find event handouts, downloadable documents, administration forms and an FAQ, as well as downloadable accreditation marks. We have emailed you an individual username and password – if you require assistance accessing this section, please contact us and we will be happy to help.

We will also be highlighting accredited colleges in our featured college section. We hope to post new descriptions of institutions in this section every month. If you would like to see your college featured, please feel free to send a short (100-200 word) description and a photograph between 100×100 and 350×350 pixels to us at this email address.

The landscape of further and higher education is changing, both in the UK and further afield. The potential implications of the HE White Paper for the independent sector are considerable and, while the HE Bill has been shelved, change within the sector will undoubtedly continue at pace. Many providers are taking advantage of such developments, as recently reported by the Guardian, and BAC offers a specialist accreditation scheme for training and short course providers who choose to specialise in such courses. Other providers are looking at opportunities to expand overseas and, if your college is considering this, you may be interested in our international accreditation scheme.

2011 was not without its challenges, and we begin 2012 with new developments within the student visa system, along with HE funding. To support you in the upcoming year, BAC will be offering a number of training events, which commenced with our free Business Diversification seminar in early February. Throughout 2012, we will be offering further events on student satisfaction, awarding body and university relations, quality assurance and teaching and learning. I hope to see many of you at one of these events in the future.

With best wishes for 2012,

Dr Gina Hobson
