Paul Fear (Chief Executive), Sheila Needham (Chief Inspector) and Jeff Butel (Senior Inspector) spent three days at the Macau University of Science and Technology (MUST).
The university has around 10 000 students and is currently the largest university on the island. Although a relatively new institution, established in 2000, it has already begun to make its mark in the region. It is responsible for analyzing China’s satellite feedback and is the only government backed centre into the pharmaceutical properties associated with traditional Chinese herbal medicine. The university has already identified a number of compounds and is working in partnership with commercial pharmaceutical companies to develop modern drugs.
The BAC team gave a number of presentations and held meetings with a number of staff to help raise awareness of accreditation.
MUST is determined to be a leading university in the region and regards accreditation as key to its continued growth
