BAC Event - 1 October 2012

BAC celebrated the launch of new accreditation schemes, discounted services and benefits at an invitation only evening drinks and canapés reception on Monday 1 October.

Our programme of events planned for 2012 included:

18 April 2012 - Student Welfare

This event covered a variety of issues affecting student welfare and student satisfaction. Information was shared regarding BAC's student complaints procedure, case studies of best practice in student welfare and student social programmes, with an examination of how social media can improve communications between institutions and their students.

27 June 2012 - Quality Assurance

This event informed institutions about how they can improve their quality assurance procedures, looking at standards established by BAC, QAA and ISI, and based on the expertise of inspectors in this area. There were also sessions on self evaluation and improving external relations and publicity.

Upcoming events include:

14 November 2012 - Levelling the Playing Field

This event will be run in conjunction with Deloitte.  As part of the Government’s commitment to creating a more diverse and competitive education sector, the 2012 Budget announced plans to extend the VAT exemption currently utilised by publicly funded universities and charities, to certain for-profit providers. This seminar will provide interested parties with an overview of the VAT proposals and key implications, highlight some of the areas of uncertainty or challenge and give affected organisations the opportunity to provide feedback.

Early 2013 - Teaching and Learning in Higher Education

This event will be run in conjunction with the Higher Education Academy.  This event will provide delegates with the opportunity to engage with the revised UK Professional Standards Framework – a new framework for excellence in teaching and supporting learning, including an introduction and explanation of the revised framework and how it can help you perform your role better. There will be the opportunity for delegates to consider applying for professional recognition as an Associate Fellow (AFHEA), Fellow (FHEA), Senior Fellow (SFHEA) or Principal Fellow (PFHEA) of the Higher Education Academy.
