BAC was established by the British Council and the Department of Education in 1984 with the remit to oversee standards in independent further and higher education.

Today BAC accredits more than 230 institutions across 17 countries.

The Accreditation Committee operates under delegated authority from the BAC trustees and holds decision making authority to:

  1. Award or withdraw accreditation from an institution
  2. To consider and recommend changes to BAC standards

Existing committee members have a wide range of educational experience covering higher education to vocational training. All share a common interest in maintaining and raising standards in further and higher education.

If you are interested in joining the committee or would like to discuss the role of the committee further, please contact Paul Fear (CEO) at paul.fear@the-bac.org

BAC is a registered charity and a not for profit limited company.
