Independent Higher Education Institutions
BAC will offer to qualifying applicants accreditation as an independent higher education institution, which is awarded to colleges which wholly or predominantly offer programmes at the level of higher education (full degree awards), normally in partnership with a university or other HE awarding body.
There is a specific set of criteria designed for the assessment of independent HEIs, which include, for instance, greater emphasis on staff qualifications and academic resources. Full details are available from the BAC office.
Accreditation is awarded for a period of up to four years, subject to a satisfactory interim visit and observance of the additional requirements for maintaining accreditation.
