Independent Higher Education Institutions

BAC will offer to qualifying applicants accreditation as an independent higher education institution, which is awarded to colleges which wholly or predominantly offer programmes at the level of higher education, normally in partnership with a university or other HE awarding body.

There is a specific set of criteria designed for the assessment of independent HEIs, relating, for instance, to staff qualifications and academic resources.  Accreditation on this basis is only available to colleges which are wholly or predominantly involved in teaching programmes leading directly to the award of degrees.  Full details are available from the BAC office.
