Make an application for accreditation

Institutions considering an application for accreditation should first read the Accreditation Handbook and ensure that they understand the application process, the standard of provision required and the responsibilities placed upon them by BAC accreditation. Staff in our head office will be happy to issue you with your own hard copy of the Accreditation Handbook free of charge, while an electronic version can be downloaded here.

Once you have read all the information published in the handbook, you should assess whether you meet the eligibility criteria and standards required. Should you still have any questions you are invited to contact the BAC office before preparing your application for accreditation.

The application for accreditation comprises:

  • New institution application form
  • Required additional documentation (listed in application form)
  • Payment covering both the non-refundable application fee and a deposit (see fees sheet)

The new institution application form with guidance notes can be downloaded from the links below. There is a separate, tailored application form for accreditation as a short course provider - see the specialist scheme document for more information.

With reference to the Accreditation Handbook, you should then complete the application form (referring also to the corresponding guidance notes when directed), and gather together the supporting documentation, three copies of which will be required as part of your submission.

N.B. BAC will only accept an application for accreditation which has been submitted directly by the institution itself. Please beware of any individuals offering to submit an application on your behalf, and be sure not to make any payment for the application except directly to BAC.
